Sampras vs Federer Wimbledon 2001 Round 4
Few comments:
One of the greatest matches ever played on center court. Fed was somewhat unknown back then. Sampras wasn't playing a bad match, it was Federer showing some signs of genius.
Federer is now the greatest IMO and will add at least a couple more titles over the next few years.
Pete was only 29 here. Roger was just 19. Pete should've had the advantage by so much experience and championships. A true testament to Federer's greatness. He would do the same to Agassi, who would last much longer than Sampras.
There's no way of knowing for sure who would win this titanic match of grass court heavyweights in their respective primes.
These were the days of Fed with the pony tail serving and volleying on grass. what a great man and the crying at the end makes him a true champion in my opinion
